The Medical Education Department was initially established in 1993 as the Medical Education Development and Research Centre (MEDARC) in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.
The UWU Medical Education Department shall,
- provide expertise as a resource centre in medical education
a. to all medical faculties in the country in future,
b. to the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM), and
c. to schools of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences of the Ministry of Health etc. - be a central hub for student support, staff discussions, international collaborations etc.
